Stephen is delighted to have joined Westaway Law Group. He is from Treaty One Territory in Winnipeg and completed his law degree at the University of Ottawa with a focus on Indigenous and Aboriginal law, and a commitment to advocacy for Indigenous peoples. Stephen has done a variety of related work, including helping with research on reports to the United Nations Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. During his legal education, Stephen advocated on social justice issues and was elected as the Vice-President, Equity of the University of Ottawa’s common law student society.

Prior to law school, Stephen worked in youth recreation programming. He spent six years with the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre helping coordinate free kid’s camps in Winnipeg’s North End. He also worked as a university mentor to inner-city high school students with the University of Manitoba’s Rec and Read Mentorship Program.

Stephen has an honours degree in English literature from the University of Manitoba. He enjoys his free time writing, playing the guitar, playing soccer and other sports, and cooking for friends and family
