Emily Bonnell is Counsel with Westaway Law Group, supporting the firm’s litigation, negotiation, and strategic advisory services.
She articled and worked as an associate at Ackroyd LLP in Edmonton, Alberta after graduating from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, with a focus on Indigenous and Aboriginal law. During her legal study she was the program coordinator for Level Justice, delivering their Indigenous Youth Outreach Program to high school aged youth. She also interned at the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board and the Alberta Ministry of Justice.
Emily holds a Bachelors of Social Work from the University of Calgary and she has worked in Edmonton with youth and adults transitioning out of the criminal justice system. She was born and raised in northern Alberta and lived in High Level, Slave Lake, and Brooks.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys playing ukulele, cross-stitching, and hanging out with her partner and her puppy.
